I have a 7 year old Rudd “gas” hot water tank. I see no leaks and it appears to be working properly. My problem resides in the fact of small little white — I believe calcium — flakes coming from the hot water faucets and an accumilation of the same in faucet airators. The problem appears to have begun 3 months ago. My question is could these deposits be generated from a bad hot water tank? and would replacing the tank correct the problem?

        Thanks —

the particles could be plastic from a failing dip tube. Replacing the dip tube would not get rid of the material that is already in the tank, so a new tank may be the way to go
