I live in a co-owned over/under wood frame duplex. My GF is completely redoing the kitchen and has hired a great plumber. The other owner has hired the handyman from hell to do some plumbing that will pass through the remodeled space.

Rather than replace the water lines that were exposed, the handyman bent in copper pipes right next to each other and near the surface to be. As it is they can’t be wrapped. There are already problems with mold in interior walls due to AC being run upstairs but not down. Is installation this way going to make any significant contribution to the problem? When a copper pipe is bent around a section of wood, will contraction and expansion abrade the pipe and create a leak?

Also, there is going to be an icemaker installed directly above all the new 10 foot long drywall pieces and expensive cabinetry. What might a dufus handyman or an ignorant homeowner do that might lead to leaks?

I’m hoping to be assertive enough to lead to the hiring of a real plumber”

      thanks

Call the local Plumbing insp. You should have a permit for the job. The water lines should be at least 4″ apart, and bending them like thatwill maybe cause a leak later on.
