I just replaced my bath Tub Faucet a week ago and now every morning I turn the water on the initial water color is rust-colored. I had to replace the nipple coming from the wall pipe. The new nipple is black, it wasn’t brass. Can anyone explain the rust color? Does the nipple need to be a specific type of metal? Thank You.

Black steel will rust, replace it with brass nipple

D’oh. Thanks for the explanation. I wish the Ace employee told me that when I asked for a nipple for the tub faucet I had in my hand.

PS: What is black steel used for then? Curious.
