Float arm in 4-year-old toilet has not been rising (have to lift it manually to stop water running); today after flush only a trickle of water into tank. Any ideas – or should I just call a plumber? Thanks.

Is it dragging along side of tank, is it got water in it, if it is none of these then put in new ballcock are call Plumber.

Sounds like the water supply to stool is low.If there is a supply valve under stool, make sure it is open all the way.Supply could be plugged also.

Or you could trash the ball-float and try one of those Fluidmaster valves, they work great and hardly ever get hung up on the walls of the tank.
