I am getting tired of having my water run for several minutes before getting hot water. I have seen the chillipepper product but am wondering if there are other products/sources out there that do the same thing.

I have thought about just installing a return line from the hot water back to the cold line but am not sure if this would work. Can anyone give me the basics of a residential system or at least steer me in the right direction?

You could install a pumped “ring main” system that circulates the hot water through a mechanical electric pump to ensure hot water is available at every outlet point without any delay – these are used in motels etc to overcome exactly what you have described – however, I doubt for the small inconvienence you are experiencing that the costs would justify the outcome.
Have a qualified Plumber over to give you some advice and likely costs if you wish to follow this course of action.
Hope this gives you some idea of how the problem can be overcome at least.
