I am in a newly constructed home, approaching the end of our one year warranty period. The pipes in the walls in our kitchen and master bath make noises for a moment, then stop, when the hot water is turned on. Sometimes they make noise as they ‘cool’ back down. The plumbers say they must tear out walls to fix the problem. My worry is, given the noises are so brief, how can they tell where to start ripping the wall out? Is there a better way?

When the pipe was put in the studs they did not drill big enough holes for thr piope so when water gets hot the pipe expans and makes the npise, they make pvc straps for the pipe so it dont make the noise. They will look where pipe comes through the floor and go from there.
