        Hi:
Our tub has a stopper that you push the lever and it closes a stopper somewhere where you can’t see it or reach it (I hope this makes sense). Well, it is now stuck closed, as I found when I tried to drain the bathtub. I took off the overflow plate with the lever and it seems that the rod that hangs down (striker rod?) is disconnected from the rest of the mechanism. Now what do I do? How do I reach anything? I am at a total loss.

Try to fish it out with a wire are string, if you can get to back of tub take off overflow pipe and pull it out, I think you can buy one of those flexable picker upers and shove down you might get it.

Go to a search and ask them to show you a pic. of a waste and overflow for a tub.

Try sticking a piece of wire with a hook on the end down the overflow tube to hook the rod.I have used a small hand auger or snake also to hook rods .Most rods have a spring on the end and are pretty easily hooked.Good luck
