Trying to replace stem and seat on 3-handled shower faucet. I replaced the cold with no problem. The stem on the hot was much more difficult to remove. After too much effort on my part, the faucet wrench has now stripped the edges of the nut so that I cannot unscrew the stem. Any ideas?

take an adjustable pliers and bend the thin wall of the socket in slightly this will give you a tighter grip on the stem also make sure you leave the packing nut in the stem as it is easier to round off the stem with it out
