I replaced one of the elements on my hot water heater, but the other will not come loose. I’m a bit leary about using a penetrating oil on the threads given the proximity to the electrical wiring. Is there another way or trade trick to loosen the element so I can replace it?

You need a deep socket and hold tight againt it so it dont jump.Get somebody to push againt the socket and turn slow.
