I have a sears water softner(resin type) that has developed a restricted flow recently. I suspect lime build up. The system saver and iron prvention morton’s salt have not corrected the problem. Is there a cleaner recommended for water softners? Would the use of vinegar in the brine tank be recommended for a cycle or two. My email address is [email protected].

My dad had the same problem (20 year old softner). He took the softner apart per the manufactuers instructions and cleaned about 5+ gallons of sediment from the bottom of the tank. Works good as new now.
