I have the infamous PB plumbing that was installed in our house in ’93. I have had no problems with it thus far but get the impression that I’m on borrowed time. So, I have 3 questions: Is PB plumbing as big a risk as some make it out to be, and if so, can anyone recommend a good plumbing book for PEX plumbing, and can I use my PB 1/2″ crimping tool for crimping PEX pipe?
Dunno what all the fuss is about with Polybute Pipe and fittings we have used it here for years and still do, however over the years some of the crimp fitting have changed as a few failed earlier than expected but were the ones with the copper band compression rings – we now use alluminium clamp rings and have found them to be excellent here. Different rings clamps – different crimping tool required – the manufacturers have to make some cash somewhere!!!
