I am looking for a flow switch which is not impacted by the water quality – ie it is some electronic type sensing system. I have high iron content water which causes heavy deposits in the water line and stops the paddle type flow switch operating long term.

hmmm. if iron is your delema… why not get an electro- magnet filtration system before your flow meter?
this is just one site, and I am not a filteration specialist, but removal of ferrous metals should be pretty easy with the use of magnets.
