I have heard there is a drain/ vent device called “drum Trap”. I would like to know what it is, how it works
and whwre I can find one. I want to install a bath tub on a concrete floor and run the drain horizontally for about 8
feet to the main drain, would that type of vent do the job ?
Help will be appreciated.John

The drum trap was the standard in Chicago until the 70’s when I moved. I have not seen one in this part of the nation since then, and do not know if they are even made any more. They did not conform to the standards that regulated traps, but were very convenient. But no trap can legally be installed 8 ft. from its vent regardless of its configuration or size.
