        When I leave on vacation for 1-2 weeks, I shut the main water valve to my house off. When I shut the water off do I also have to shut the gas off on my gas water heater?

            Why turn off the water. If your house has a few years on it, it can cause more problems turning off the water than leaving it on.

              I would shut the main gas valve off.
