My outdoor faucet is leaking around a piece that seems to have been added to the faucet. The house is 9 years old and both of my outside faucets have this piece. I can’t get it off. Could someone tell me what this is and how to remove it? Thanks

nicks right, its an atmospheric vacuum breaker to keep your potable water from being contaminated.
they usually have a little “set screw” that is designed to break off inside it after installation. It is designed to leak AFTER it shuts off. If the thing leaks under full pressure then it needs to be replaced.
