        We bought a home with a Kenmore water softner. The previouys ownwes did not leave us the book. The water softner does not run and has a code number of “E-3”. Does anyone know this code and what we should do??

          The code number you refer to is an error code. A part has malfunctioned ie:microswitch, wiring harness, motor or faceplate. I recommned you contact the Sears service department in your area or a reputable water treatment dealer that has the knowledge and access to sears parts.
