There is a small amount of water standing around the base of my toilet. After wiping it up, it reappears after flushing. There are signs on the bathroom ceiling in the bathroom below that there had been a problem before we moved here.
Can anyone tell me what can be done to take care of this water problem and what kind of expense might be involved?Thanks!

When you flush it, check the back of the bowl to see if water is coming from the joint between the bowl and the tank. If it was leaking at the outlet seal, the water would normally go through the hole in the floor into the lower room, rather than appear outside the bowl in the upstairs bathroom.
