My toilet water level is too high (I’m looking in the rear of the tank, not the bowl), creating a slow leak (outside meter continues to run slowly). What do I need to adjust to lower the water level?

There is a float system of some kind on your toilet fill valve inside the tank. It depends on which type of fill valve you have as to how you adjust it. Some float systems are adjusted by sliding the float up or down on a rod installed on the side of the fill valve. Others are adjusted by adjusting the height of the fill valve itself. Still others are adjusted by adjusting the rod attached to a ball called the float ball in the tank.

Fix the faulty seal inside the float valve and it will stop overflowing
