        When I turn on the switch for the garbage disposal it only humms. I have hit the reset button numerous times but it still humms. I looked inside to set if anything was binding the grinder but did not notice anything. Should I remove it from the sink and try to see if something is caught inside, or should I just replace unit?

          If it is a Sears, ISE, Emerson, etc with a hex socket in the bottom, use an allen wrench to turn it and then run it for a short time. If it makes a lot of noise check for the object which is stuck or bouncing around inside.
