        I have a problem with my cold water faucet in my shower. When I turn on the cold water the water comes out but then it abrutly shuts off and there is a bang in the pipes. If you let the water just dribble out it will also shut off but with no loud noise. Any ideas as to what may be wrong? And can it be fixed relativly easily?

          Sounds like the bibb washer on the end of the stem is loose or off of the stem.Turn the water off before you take the faucet apart.Good luck

            You probably have a two handle shower valve that has a stem unit with washer and a seat. My experience is that the washer is loose on the stem and if you tighten the bib screw on the stem it should stop
