My garbage disposal motor hums, the blades spin, but the water/chopped food won’t go down the drain. Any suggestions?

Sounds like the drain fitting coming directly from the disposal itself is plugged at a point before it ties with the drain from the other bowl. I’m assuming that your sink is a two bowl model.
