At our condo community we are experiencing corrosion of the underground copper pipes coming from the main water line to individual condo units. The corrosion occurs on the outside of the pipes. Catastrophic pipe leaks appear to occur most during the winter months and lead to a crushing hole aboutthe size of a dime. In most cases, the leak occurs with pipe located under a concrete patio or under a concrete condo floor. Is there any practical solution to this re-occuring problem? Are there speciaist who specializing in solving this type of problem? Any help would be much appreciated.

        Thanks much for your help.

There is a company that claims to have a solution for this. He uses cathodic protection to protect the outside of the pipe. Take a look at his web site http://www.gwebs.com/hcc/. Hope this helps, I know how frustrating this problem can be.
