I live in a 3 year old two story home. Over the last month or so I’ve noticed every time I flush the upstairs toiliet a few seconds will pass and a very loud humming noise goes through the whole house. I’ve also noticed that if I have a the dishwasher and washing machine running I will hear these noises. It has become consistent with water usage. Any ideas on what is causing this problem?

Has anyone owrked on the pluming lately? some times folks shut off valves and do not open them fully leaving a partical restriction and this can cause the noise.
Since it happens with the dish washer and toliet it sounds like a main valve.

If you have a water softener, put it into bypass mode and see if the noise goes away. The second possibility is a Pressure reducing valve on the line to the house.
