There is a small flow of water into the commode. Flapper has been replaced and fits ok. A small flow of water continues from the water fill tube. Float seems to cutoff water supply ok but small flow of water continues. If you lift the tube up out of the overflow pipe and then replace it, the water stops. Seems like it acts like a syphon. What is causing this problem and what do I need to do to correct it?

Bill you are correct when you say syphoning is occuring.Dont put the refill tube in the overflow tube very far .There should be some type of retainer or clip on the overflow tube to prevent this

If this is a Fluidmaster ballcock it came with a plastic elbow with a metal clip for mounting on the flushvalve.Without this you will continue to have this syphoning problem. If you can’t get this part you can put a small hole in the refill tube between the flushvalve and ballcock, just make sure the hole points down so you don’t spray water uot of the tank.Good luck
