The water in my tub is draining out even when the drain lever is in the up or “closed” position. How can that be accessed to repair it?

Providing that everything is in working order,this is a simple repair.Remove the screws on the overflow plate and pull the trip lever out.You need to lengthen the rod between the trip lever and plunger.How you do this depends on what type you have.Sometimes it may take a few try’s to get it correct.It.s a good idea to grease the plunger with plumbers grease while you have it out.
