smelly dishwasher:
for several months i have had an
odor that comes and goes. i finally traced it down to my dishwasher. it smells like sewage. i am on a septic
system, but my dishwasher drains into my sink between the drain and the trap.
please help!! -

I had a similar problem with my dishwasher. I ran some citric acid through it, one complete cycle. Citric Acid is available at any pharmacy. It worked quite niely for me.

Before you go spending any money on chemicals to stop the septic smell that will always be there check to see if the dishwasher drain hose is looped up above the connection to the drain. If it isn’t loop the hose up as high as you can under the sink and attach it so that it doesn’t slip down. This will create a trap so that any the septic smell will not go back through and into your dishwasher. let us know how you make out. Scott T.
