Which is better, copper or plastic. The pipe will be 140 feet long and will be in a 6 – 8′ foot trench in a Colorado winter climate. Is copper worth 3 times the cost of plastic?

A better question might be if you want to dig up a pipe buried 8′ deep to repair a cracked joint in one of the 7 or 8 plastic couplings, or use copper which might only only have one, depending on its size, and that one should be permanent and not separate.
