we have tried and tried to get old heating element removed to put new one on but have been unsuccessful.have general element tool but it still want turn.we also put 10w40 but still want turn.what else is there to do.
usually by this time, the edges of the element are rounded off so the only way to remove it is to drill and saw it out. Doing so requires a great deal of time and care, since the heater socket can be damaged in the process. The most cost efficient solution is to replace the water heater.
