Is it necessary/recommended that the Expansion Tank for a gas hot water heater be plumbed on the cold water side. My expansion tank is leaking & have been told that it is because it is plumbed to the hot water side. Thanks

The answer depends on the type of expansion tank you have. some are made for cold water only and will not stand up to hot water. Others are made for hot water and will work well on hot water but be carefull. Not all expansion tanks that are for hot water are made for drinking water : Is it necessary/recommended that the Expansion Tank for a gas hot water heater be plumbed on the cold water side.
