: I have a spring-type tub stopper. It is metal and you push the stopper itself once to close and again to open. I need to know how to get it out of my tub! I want to replace it because it wont hold any water. I cant figure it out! Help! The large (usually chrome) top will unscrew from the assembly. Inside you will find a bolt with typically a slot (its brass). You will need a large screw driver to turn this bolt. It may need quite a bit of strength depending on how long its been in there. The replace part is about $4 at most home improvement centers. Coat the threads with silicone grease before screwing the new assembly back in!
