My Bock oil fired water heater is about 10-12 years old. The water heater cuts off periodically in the winter months when the oil furnance is running. Sometimes hitting the reset button on the water heater kicks starts it. Recently the line had to be bled because of air in the line and the reset button did not do the trick. The oil line is not far from the oil tank to the water heater, but the line is in the overhead. Does oil quality contribute to this problem? The burner technician cant seem to correct the problem. Any suggestions?

first, replace the oil filter cartridge. if this has already been done, have your technician check the oil pressure of the oil pump on the water heater without furnace on and again with furnace running. a plugged pump strainer or weak oil pump could also cause this problem. have him check ALL the oil line fittings and make sure they could not be causing air to enter the system. a worn oil pump can also allow air to enter system if it has to overwork itself to provide oil. darren
