The main sewer line in my yard keeps getting clogged with tree roots. Is there a good product that I can flush down the toilet that will prevent/slow the tree roots from growing into the line? I am trying to avoid having the sewer line replaced.

Brad-There are many products which you can flush down your toilet that will work absolute miracles (say the guys who sell them) all of which are very pricey, none of which work. Save your money and be very suspicious of anyone who says different. Many, many homes have roots in the sewer line and have to be unblocked on occassion. Average job should take 1 guy about 1 hr and should cost approx $75. Average job should last 10-14 months. Very seldom would anyone have to have the sewer line replaced. In the extreme case you should locate the spot where roots have penetrated pipe, dig up that section of pipe and make repair. Always install a clean-out (if no other in immediate area) for future access. If your experience is too different than Ive described try another company its entirely possible youre being ripped-off by someone more interested in your $$$$$ than your problem. Stay the hell away from Rescue Rooter, see above sentence. How much are you paying and how frequent does your line stop up?: The main sewer line in my yard keeps getting clogged with tree roots.
