The toilet with the problem is in the basement (used maybe once daily). Once every 2 or 3 days the toilet will flush (in the middle of the night) on it’s own. The toilet is approximatey 25 years old. Please give me some suggestions. Thank you.

You need to replace the flapper valve in the bottom of the toilet tank.
