Our hot water pipe behind the 2nd floor bathroom, makes a loud hammering noise, about once a second, as the pipe first heats up. Lasts for about a minute.Problem first happened after plumming repair about a year ago. House 20 years old.
Once a second sounds pretty slow. And since it seems to be temperature related… I would consider the possibility that it might be the hot water pipe fitting too tightly in a hole through a wall stud. As the pipe expands from the heat it is just rubing real hard on the stud. Could it be that instead of a hammaring?
