I recently built a new house. I did not pick out my water heater. My builder just put it in. I notice that it runs for a while after I use hot water. I just hate this. It creates too much noise pollution and makes me very uncomfortable. Should I replace it with something quieter? Any ideas? It has a fan on top of it and is quite ugly compared to the one I had in my old house. Could this problem be because the temperature is too high — I have noticed that the water is very very hot. Will turning the thermostat down help? Are there quieter models on the market? I am very sensitive to hums, buzzes and other irritating noises. Please help me. We are getting ready to close and I want to exchange this for something so quiet that I do not even know it is there. Thanks
