I have a house with steam heat and radiators. One upstairs radiator never gets hot. The main valve seems to open and close (it turns) and the air breather valve has just been replaced. Assuming the radiator is blocked, where is the blockage likely to be; is there a chemical additive that cleans the steam system; how would I proceed in removing the blaockage?

It is unlikely that the pipe is blocked with debris. If settling has occured then condensation could be interferring with the steam travel. To be sure it is not an air problem remove the air vent and see if it heats.: I have a house with steam heat and radiators.
