french drain construction problem

just bought a house and last owner installed a french drain from the back yard down the side and outfalls in the front yard. Drain was installed with perforated corregated PE pipe in a gravel blanket. At the front yard, the pipe is solid. To no surprise, i have found that much of the water travels in the gravel and there is an area in the front yard over the drain alignment that i would like to do some landscaping but, although the pipe in this area is solid, the ground is too wet. Problems is this: how to modify the drain somewhere on the side of the house to force the water in the gravel into the pipe.
