I have started to notice white deposits coming from all faucets in my house (calcium I believe). In addition, the kitchen faucets water flow slowly diminishes. Upon removal of the faucet handle, I found that these deposits are clogging the holes in the faucet.
My question is where are these coming from? I have an electric hot water heater. I have never drained the heater in the 6 years in the house.
Could getting rid of these deposits be as simple as draining the heater?
Thanks for any advice

It is likely that the deposits are both Calcium and Magnesium, the hard water minerals. Softening will correct that.
