        replaced heating element, and thermostat water temp set and 140 degrees, is this to much for a residential water heater? water blew out the pressure valve at top, very hot. thanks. bob

            If the wiring is correct and not making the element stay on all the time…I would suspect a weak temperature/pressure relief valve.
