I am looking into purchasing a new heater. I have looked at a State (by Sears-Kenmore) 80 Gallons and a RUUD (Manufactured by GE for Home Depot) both with 12 year Limited warranty. Before I commit to either I would appreciate any comments on either brand.

You have the brand and manufacturers mixed. State makes it for Sears and Ruud makes the GE brand. Go for price, since they use the same controls and hating units, so if the warranty is the same, then price is the only meaningful variable.: I am looking into purchasing a new heater.
