Recently, I moved to a new apartment that had a fifteen gallon hot water heater. Well, it only gave me six gallons of hot water. Today, they replaced the water heater with a brand new twenty gallon tank. Well, I tried it out when I got home and I still don’t get the optimal amount.

Am I correct in assuming it is not the water heater? If so, what else could cause less than half of the specified amount of hot water to be released?

Please, any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your consideration of this matter.

If it was a new water heater then the thermostat(s) ws set for 120 degrees and the installers were not likely to have reset them. @0 gallons of 120 degree water is not going to be very much since the cold water entering the tank to replace the water you use is going to cool it down in the tank and so you might be lucky to get 12 or 14 gallons of hot to warm water.
