I just installed a hot water heater and I have a leak coming out of the valve going to the output of hot water to the house. It is leaking minutely but I also noticed a decrease in water pressure. I wanted to know when I replace the valve, Should it be with the Y down to the tank or up to the house hot water lines?

I wanted to know when I replace the valve, Should it be with the Y down to the tank or up to the house hot water lines?not sure just what youre referring to, the flow of water in a globe type valve should be comming up through the seat up against the washer, otherwise it will cause the washer to come off eventually. gate valves are the best to use as not to restrict flow
