What is the best way to reduce/eliminate the white gel buildup that calcifies the calrods? Seems to be happening with high frequency. Municipal water source/no softener in system. Calrods fail in 3-6 mos!40 gal tank on electric clock timer

Calrods fail in 3-6 mos!40 gal tank on electric clock timer you basically answered it yourself-if your community doesnt treat hard water -have a residential water softener installed
