clogged garbage disposal

I need to know how to unclog a garbage disposal. It got clogged when I put pieces of fresh cabbage in it. Thank you for any help you can give.

Paulette, my garbage disposal unit recently got jammed. The way I unjammed it was by taking a wooden spoon handle and inserting it in the unit. Then try to rotate the part that spins (cant think of the exact part) counterclockwise. I had a piece of plastic that was jamming it up. I also read that if you put ice cubes down there it may help loosed the clog. I hope this helps.
