We have an occasional stoppage and overflow problem with a four year old Kohler 1.6 gallons-per-flush toilet. What it usually does is start to flush normally, then the bowl fills up to about one-third of the normal level, and then it continues flushing and the cycle repeats once. It is sort of a triple flush although sometimes it is just a double. This toilet seemed to work as well the others in the house, which are the same model but flushed more normally. We are not the original owners, so I dont know why we had different combinations of flappers and flapper chain floats (or weights?). I had to replace the flapper and remove the thing from the chain on one toilet to get it to work. We have had at least one stoppage problem with each toilet, but for the past several months there has been no trouble with the ones on the second floor. The toilet that still causes problems is the only one on the first floor, so it gets the most use. It also is closest to the kitchen, but we have not noticed any correlation between toilet trouble and any activity or situation that we could think of.Insights would be appreciated.
