how do i check to see if the heating element is not working on our elec. water heater? The hot water seems to run out a lot faster that it used to; also our elec. bill has increased significantly and I suspect it has something to do with the water heater. Its old and still working but not as effeciently as it should be. any suggestions greatly appreciated.

I think you should let a plumber or electrican check this out.
