HI! I have a 15 year old townhouse and when I tried to take a shower this morning, I realized that I dont have any hot water. I tried every sink in the house and also ran the washing machine, but still no hot water. Since I am a single woman I am sure that when I call a plumber out he is going to tell me that my hot water heater needs to be replaced. When he tells me this, I would like to be armed with information. When you dont have any hot water, does that automatically mean that your hot water heater needs replacing. Could it be that my hot water heater just needs some type of maintenace and if so, is there a way that I can tell if it only needs maintenance or needs replacing all together??? Thanks!

Thanks! If it is an electric water heater you might just need to reset the high limit switch…and if it is a gas heater the pilot light might need to be re-lit. Visit my website for information about water heaters and how to fix them.
