I was looking at the tyler soil pipe catalog and fund a trap fitting that has a vent on the upstream side of the trap (Running trap with hub vent). What purpose is this fitting for? You would get syphoning from this configuration. They also show a running trap with dual hub vent. Can someone explain this to me?

The running trap with the hub vent (upstream)is most commonly used as a building trap.the hub is for cleanout access and is also used for the fresh air inlet. The two hand hole trap is used the same way with a forward cleanout.
