        could someone inform me how long an battery back up shoud operate a sump pump after the electricity goes off. Our den was flooded after the electricity was off for about four hours. Are there longer life batteries that can be installed???

          I am in the same boat. My pump pulls more than 11 amps – too much for a battery backup. I found 2 possible solutions: the Home Guard water powered (garden hose) auxilliary sump pump. $149.95 for 350 GPHand the Little Giant battery backup pump $329.95 plus a RV battery – claims to pump for 9 hours continuously.at 1000 GPH.
