refinish clawfoot tub and feet

I have sandblasted the cast iron feet of my claw foot tub. The feet have chicken toes on a ball base. I would like to paint the ball part and use gold foil on the toes/feet, but I would like to know whether this is feasible and in what order I should proceed. Where can I find the gold foil or is there a better product? Also what kind of paint and sealer should I use on the feet? What kind of paint should I use on the underside of the tub (not sandblasted)? Any suggestions would be most welcome.
